The Arc One-Stop Shop Resource Center

Mission Statement

The Resource Center’s mission is to provide a one-stop-shop for individuals living with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), their caregivers, family members and providers, to help increase knowledge of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). The center also provides information, personal assistance, and referrals to help individuals living with I/DD, their caregivers and family members effectively navigate through life and obtain needed services.

Vision Statement

A support system for individual living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their caregivers and family member which will enables them to locate not only printed materials but also link them to local, state, and national resources that will meet the needs of those in our community living with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities so that they can live, work and enjoy life just like people without disabilities do.

The Arc Resource Center Advisory Council (RCAC)

Are you an individual living with an intellectual or developmental disability (I/DD), or the caregiver, family member or professional in the field of I/DD? Well, we have an opportunity for you. We are recruiting individuals to serve on the voluntary Resource Center Advisory Council (RCAC) for The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham. What We Do

We provide information on the services and resources available across Virginia as well as our local community.

Resource Library

  • Books on intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Pamphlets, brochures, and information packets for local service providers
  • Brochures and fact sheets on specific disabilities

Education

Seminars, workshops and conferences on a variety of topics

Referrals, personal assistance, and advocacy in such areas as:

  • IEP’s
  • School transitions
  • SSI/SSDI
  • Medicaid waivers
  • Special needs trusts
  • Guardianship
