The underlying purpose of this policy is to support The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham’s goal of legal compliance with various laws and regulations.

If any employee or volunteer reasonably believes that some policy, practice, or activity of The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham is in violation of law, a written complaint shall be filed by that person with the Executive Director or The Arc Board President.

The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham shall not retaliate against an employee or a volunteer who in good faith has made a protest or raised a complaint against some practice of the organization or of another individual or entity with whom the organization has a business relationship.

An employee or volunteer is protected from retaliation only if they report the alleged unlawful activity, policy, or practice and provide the organization with a reasonable opportunity to investigate or correct the alleged unlawful activity.
